Ethane

Ethane is odourless and colourless at standard temperature and pressure. Like many hydrocarbons, ethane is isolated on an industrial scale from natural gas & as a petrochemical byproduct of petroleum refining. It is used to produce ethylene and used by the petrochemical industry to generate intermediate products which are converted to plastics. It is used as a fuel in power generation.
