LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) is widely known for being used for the purpose of cooking and heating, as automotive fuel and petrochemical feed-stock. The consumption of petrochemicals is 20% with households and the other industries.
The trade unit (Gas Sales Department) of GreatHarbour is ready to cooperate with domestic and foreign traders for the sale, export, and supply of liquefied gas. We can supply the following gases at suitable price conditions and deliver them to intermediate ports. Or delivery as FOB factory and warehouse or delivery at the border
At GreatHarbour, we specialize in delivering reliable and efficient LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) solutions tailored to meet the needs of businesses across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, the UAE, and the broader MENA region. Whether you require bulk LPG supply, advanced storage solutions, or customized gas services, our comprehensive offerings ensure your business operates seamlessly and sustainably.
From hospitality and food production to industrial manufacturing and logistics, our LPG solutions empower businesses to operate efficiently and sustainably. If your business is in the UAE or MENA region, trust us to deliver energy solutions that drive success.
Like natural gas, LPG is an energy source with a low environmental impact which is mainly used in the residential and transport sectors. It is an “Eco-compatible” fuel in that the presence of polluting substances and the greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere during combustion – both in residential and transport uses – is markedly inferior to that of traditional liquid fuels. In liquid form, LPG is easy to store, handle and transport in pressurized tanks, by rail or road, and made available for use cheaply at domestic and industrial sites or from the fueling of vehicles.
In the residential sector, these characteristics make it possible to store significant quantities of energy in small tanks, making the fuel easily available to users, also in places where the logistical or geographic characteristics make it difficult to supply other means of meeting energy requirements. In the transport sector, storage, in a liquid form at low pressure, in the small tanks of cars and vans, allows drivers to enjoy the same level of autonomy as for traditional vehicles, with very limited additional weight.
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is made from two hydrocarbon gases, propane and butane, or a combination of these gases, which are stored in liquid form and are a by-product of refining crude oil and natural gas. Liquefied gas is mainly used for vehicle fuel and heating applications. Two other uses of this valuable gas are for cooling gas in cooling devices such as refrigerators and freezers and for producing sprays. The thermal property of liquefied gas is 46 megajoules per kilogram, which is higher than the thermal value of gasoline and fuel oil.
LPG is a by-product of refining natural gas and crude oil refining in refineries. The calorific value of liquefied gas is 46.1 megajoules/kg, higher than gasoline and fuel oil, producing more energy in equal weight. Still, its calorific value in equal volume is lower because it is a gas with a lower density. Each liter of liquefied gas weighs 500 to 580 grams, and each liter of gasoline weighs 710 to 770 grams. This gas is converted into a liquid at 21 degrees Celsius under a maximum pressure of 8 kilograms per square centimeter. It is colorless, odorless, and even tasteless during production, which is added for more excellent safety (sulfur compounds called mercaptans, which include ethyl mercaptan and methyl mercaptan).
Liquefied gas has no odor, color, or taste, and sulfur compounds called mercantilism are added during production. This gas becomes liquid when placed under a pressure of 8 kilograms per square centimeter and a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius. It should be noted that LPG and LNG have some differences and should not be confused with each other.
LPG should not be confused with LPG (liquefied natural gas). LNG is natural gas (mainly methane and ethane) that has been compressed into a gas for easier transportation. CNG is natural gas that has been compressed to take up less space.
These two gases differ in various aspects, such as their chemical composition and consumption. Natural gas is obtained from underground gas reserves in terms of origin, and liquefied gas is obtained from oil extraction and processing. Liquefied gas is used more in terms of application in industries and families, and natural gas is used for industries, families, and power plant fuel.
Natural gas is gaseous at normal temperature and pressure, and liquefied gas is converted to a liquid state at high pressure and low temperature. Liquid tankers and metal barrels transport liquefied gas, while natural gas is distributed to industries and homes through a gas supply network.
Due to its easy transportation, LPG is a safe option for places where other forms of fuel are not possible.
In homes and kitchens, it is a source of cooking gas, stoves, and heating appliances and is more economical to use than other energy sources such as oil and electricity. Industrial and commercial kitchens also use this type of gas. In the transportation sector, it is also a good alternative to diesel and gasoline fuels and is generally considered a second fuel for vehicles.
The ignition system of gas turbines in combined cycle power plants also uses this fuel. Liquefied gas is used for furnaces and burners in factories and in some of them it is considered as a second fuel.
We cater to a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, hospitality, transportation, and food production, among others.
